2024 ATH Oliver Miles III Recaps Notre Dame Visit

2024 El Campo (Texas) athlete Oliver Miles III‍ entered his first visit to Notre Dame not completely knowing what to expect. Notre Dame safeties coach Chris O’Leary and Director of Recruiting Chad Bowden had given him a picture of what he would experience, but Miles had to find out for himself. 

“Great experience,” Miles told iSD. “People were always interacting with us everywhere we went and talked highly about the program and how it could change a man’s life. Overall great experience.” 

The three-star prospect enjoyed the bells and whistles of the visit, but he also was impressed with how Notre Dame’s campus was laid out. 

“The location of things,” Miles said when asked if anything surprised him. “I would have thought everything would be spread out more. But things seem to be close together and not too far apart.”

A few of the traditional landmarks on campus also caught the attention of Miles. 

“Seeing touchdown Jesus in person was a big W in my book,” laughed Miles. “And the Golden Dome.” 

It was also the first time Miles was able to meet the staff face-to-face and the El Campo star left impressed. 

“The staff was great, very informative and had high energy,” said Miles. 

Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and O’Leary also made sure to explain how Miles not only fit into the defense and locker room, but why they believed in him. 

“Coach Freeman and Coach O’Leary’s message was that they don’t look at guys if they don’t think they’re the real deal,” explained Miles. “They also talked about how they develop men and how the education side can set you up for the rest of your life.” 

As for what’s next, Miles is in the middle of baseball and track, so an official visit hasn’t been set, but it’s’ clear Notre Dame made a move over the weekend. 

“Notre Dame is a great school and they are one of my top schools,” said Miles.
