2025 OL Josh Petty Excited By Notre Dame Offer
Josh Petty and Joe Rudolph have been building a relationship since Rudolph was coaching offensive linemen at Virginia Tech.
Now that Rudolph is at Notre Dame, he wants the 2025 Georgia offensive lineman in South Bend.
“He reached out to me when he moved to Notre Dame and we talked about Notre Dame, and I was like, ‘Yessir, that's an awesome school,’” Petty explains.
“He was like, ‘We're still interested in you, but I'm getting my bearings in at Notre Dame.’”
Rudolph reached to Petty again recently to let him know he would be visiting Fellowship Christian School this week.
After watching the 6-foot-5, 260-pounder work out on Tuesday morning, Rudolph extended an offer to Notre Dame.
“That was definitely a big one,” said Petty, whose offer sheet also includes the Hokies, Michigan, Duke, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and South Carolina among others.
“Notre Dame's a great school; football-wise, academically, and facility-wise, and one of the ones that I've been looking for later in my recruitment.”
Rudolph’s presence in South Bend only makes Notre Dame that much more attractive to Perry.
“I really feel like our personalities match,” he said. “Coach Rudolph seems like a really good guy who's definitely going to get on you and he has your best interest at heart.”
Next up for Petty and the Irish is getting to South Bend.
“I’ve definitely got to get up on campus and go meet all those guys down there, see the facilities, see the campus, learn about their academics, and just learn more about that program,” he said.
He’s been on a few visits to Georgia, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and South Carolina so far and has some others in mind for the future.
“I definitely want to head up to Michigan,” he said. “I want to try to go to Ohio State, South Carolina again, Southern California, Oregon, and Stanford. A lot of schools that have offered me that I haven't seen campus yet, I want to go to like LSU, and Auburn.”
Petty has a good idea of what he’s looking for in a college.
“Academics is very important to me,” he said. “Player development, coaching staff environment, not with the coaches, but pertaining to the players, facilities, seeing how they're going to be able to handle me and how they treat students and what a schedule is going to look like.”
