New 2024 Notre Dame RB Target Xavier Robinson "Checks All The Boxes"

Xavier Robinson‍ has been a hot commodity in the college football recruiting world for some time now and the 2024 Oklahoma running back is now a hot commodity for Notre Dame after picking up an offer from the Irish at the start of the month.

According to Mike Dunn, his head coach at Carl Albert High School, Robinson’s interest in the Irish pre-dates his recruitment.

"Before his recruiting really even took off, he was talking with one of our assistant coaches and he told him that Notre Dame has always been one of his top schools, that he really likes Notre Dame and has always followed Notre Dame and knows a lot about the history," says Dunn.

Robinson was ecstatic to receive an offer from the Irish and is expected to set up a visit to the school.

"Once he got the offer, he was very excited," Dunn says.

At one point, Robinson expected to be shutting his recruitment down this week, but decided he wants to take official visits in June before doing so. He already has officials set for Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Iowa State.

Dunn has nothing but praise for his star running back.

"He's a kid who had almost 2,600 yards rushing, he had 39 rushing touchdowns,” the coach says. “He had a couple of kickoff returns for touchdowns. As far as his size, he's legit 6-foot-2 and he weighs 230 pounds, runs a 4.5 40 all day long. He checks all the boxes."

Off the field, Robinson is just as impressive.

"He's definitely a leader in the locker room and amongst our team,” says Dunn. “He kind of took that role on last year. He's not a big rah-rah guy. He's not a guy who's going to be overly vocal. He's more of an actions guy. But all of our kids know if they needed something, they can count on Xavier."

Robinson's work ethic certainly stands out.

"He's extremely accountable,” says Dunn. “He's got a good support system, but he doesn't need to have people making him do things or making him be early or making him be on time or making him come to school and all those things. He's one of those guys who does a lot that on his own. And he's consistent.

“He's definitely the total package."

Although Robinson pushed back his decision date, it won’t be pushed back too far, according to Dunn.

"I think he's going to want to commit probably end of June, 1st of July.”
