Interest Mutual Between Notre Dame & 2024 S Anthony Robinson
Notre Dame is making a big push to recruit Anthony Robinson, a 2024 safety from Destrehan High School in Louisiana.
The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder is a versatile player who can do just about anything on the field, according to his head coach, Marcus Scott.
"If there's a better all-around player in the from a skill position state, I would like to see him," Scott says. "We play him at defensive back and we spot play him on offense. I mean, he could be a safety, he could be a tailback. If we gave it to him enough, he would run for a ridiculous amount of yards."
Scott offers equal praise for Robinson off the field.
“He's a high character guy,” the coach says. “An Honor Roll student.”
Robinson has landed scholarship offers from several schools, including Baylor, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ole Miss, TCU, and others.
Notre Dame extended an offer last week and that’s a school he’s expressed particular interest in Notre Dame, citing the school's strong reputation in both academics and athletics.
"It means a lot,” Robinson says of the offer. “Great school with a great background in both academics and athletics."
"It's probably the most famous brand of college football," Scott adds.
Notre Dame assistant coach Marty Biagi began developing a strong relationship with Robinson years ago.
“Coach Biagi has had a major impact,” says Robinson. “I’ve known him since he was at Purdue and he offered me at Ole Miss, so it’s always great knowing how much he likes me.”
"Coach Biagi has been around,” says Scott. “He recruits our school regardless of the school he's been at. He always comes in to recruit our kids. So, he's developed a relationship with Anthony going back some time.
“He's real good with the kids. He is real knowledgeable about all the players and things that they have going on outside of football, which makes him an effective recruiter."
Robinson has a visit set to Notre Dame in June and also plans to hit Ole Miss, Miami, and TCU, before an expected August commitment.
He will prioritize relationships, player development, distance from home, and opportunities to play as a freshman when making his final decision.
