Paul Limongi wasn’t surprised Notre Dame liked Teddy Rezac‍ so much.

“What isn't there to like?” the head coach at Westside High School in Omaha says of the 2024 Nebraska linebacker who announced his commitment to the Irish on Friday.

“He's extremely talented. He has the measurables. He's 6-4, 200 pounds. He's tough. He has a tremendous work ethic. He's competitive. He's a leader. He's an Honors student. There are 50 different things that he brings to the table. He's a hidden gem.”

Not as hidden anymore.

The Irish discovered him and evaluated him closely during the Evaluation Period.

Following an offer from Notre Dame and a visit to South Bend earlier in the week, Rezac added Nebraska to what was sure to be a growing list of scholarship offers.

“There are so many more positives on the surface other than just being a tremendous player,” Limongi says.

“His best football is yet to come.”

Limongi understands why it took so many schools so long to find out about Rezac.

“We try to coach and be humble,” he says of the philosophy of his program. “We're not a big social media team. We try to just put our head down and grind. We don't try to draw a lot of attention to ourselves. Our guys are high-character guys and our focus is effort and toughness. We just want to play as hard as we possibly can.

“We don't do a whole lot of 7-on-7 things. We don't go to a whole lot of camps. We just focus on ourselves and just try to be the best team possible. We're a lunch pail-type team. We're old school. We're not a lot of hype. We just want to work.”

Limongi, who coached current Notre Dame safety Xavier Watts at Burke High School before heading to Westside, believes Rezac’s development will be smooth and natural.

“With experience and with age, he's going to know the game better,” the coach says. “He's going to play faster. He's going to play with more confidence. He's going to get stronger. He's going to get faster, which will lead to a more explosive, violent football player.

“That could be the case for everybody as they grow and mature and gain more experience each year and learn the game more and more each day, they're going to get better. If you're not getting better, you're getting worse and he ain't that type of kid.

“He's going to get better every day.”
