2026 S Jireh Edwards Piling Up Offers, Including Notre Dame
It’s early, but not too early for Jireh Edwards to start receiving major scholarship offers.
The 2026 Maryland safety’s offer sheet includes schools like Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M, USC, Oregon, MIami as well as Notre Dame and several others.
Even with a who’s-who of offers, the 6-foot-2 194-pounder says Notre Dame is one he’s had his eye on for years.
“That's one of the first schools I was looking at, when I was coming up,” the St. Frances Academy standout says. “I always wanted to be a part of Irish greats, so I was extremely grateful.
“The color of the school, and what the school has to offer and having big-name players come out of the school.”
Edwards has had the chance to speak with Irish defensive coordinator Al Golden.
“He's a cool dude,” Edwards says. “He came out to the school one day.”
Edwards can’t have much in-person contact with college coaches at this point, but Golden has made the Irish’s interest clear.
“He’s really trying to get to know me and know what type of person I am,” says Edwards.
“I want to get up there as soon as possible. Look for the summer, trying to get up there from camp or just maybe a visit. I want to see if all the coaches are welcoming me and just make me feel like I'm at home.”
He’s already made trips to Rutgers, Maryland and Tennessee. In addition to Notre Dame, he’s hoping to get to Georgia, Alabama, Texas A&M and Ohio State among others eventually.
Coaches like his physical and mental abilities on the field.
“How physical I am and how I can take charge of the whole field,” he says of what college coaches like. “Being where I am supposed to be at the right time and my speed of play.”
Edwards doesn’t intend to make a final decision until sometime after his junior year, so schools have plenty of time to recruit him. He’ll be basing his decision on how he’s treated by the schools coming after him.
