Without a doubt, Daniel Anderson‍ was the surprise of Sunday’s Irish Invasion.

He surprised onlookers, Marcus Freeman, the Notre Dame coaching staff and the 2025 Arkansas running back himself was surprised when he earned offer from the Irish after the event.

“I was very excited,” the 5-foot-11, 190-pounder told Irish Sports Daily afterward. “It was a huge surprise to me.”

The Bryant High School standout’s only other is from Long Island University, but he certainly caught the attention of the staff throughout the event.

“I just had a bunch of coaches talk to me and said they were liking what they were seeing and to meet them after the camp,” he said. “After the camp, I was talking to them and they said they were going to take me on a tour and then send me up to Coach Freeman to have a talk and that's when he gave me the offer.”

Freeman noted that Anderson had pretty much been the talk of the camp.

“He just said whenever he came out to the camp, he had all the coaches come up and talk to him tell him to go look at Blue 20, that was the jersey number I had,” Anderson recalled. “They were like, 'Go look at Blue 20 and just watch him.'

“When we were discussing it in his office, he said that he didn't care that I didn't have any other offers other than from LIU. He just liked the skill I was putting out and how much effort I was putting in, the hard work that I had been putting in and he said he wanted to give me an offer from that.”

Anderson was impressed with Irish running backs coach Deland McCullough throughout.

“He was a great coach,” Anderson said of McCullough. “I loved practicing with him, getting some knowledge. He put me through a lot of drills that I had never seen before. Those are really good to get know mentally and put some notes on to make myself better and put in some more work.”

Anderson will be camping at Auburn next and possibly Louisville, but he’s already eyeing a return to South Bend, possibly in July.

“That will be my next step,” he said. “I think it's a great school. It's a very huge campus and I think all the buildings are very top-notch.

And Notre Dame is very high up on his list.

“Number one. Very high up, very high up.”
