2024 DE Elijah Rushing Looking Forward To Notre Dame Official
Elijah Rushing has already been to Notre Dame twice and the 2024 Arizona defensive end will be back this weekend for an official visit.
“I'm excited about getting around the players and seeing what it’s like to be a member of the Fighting Irish,” said Rushing.
The Salpointe Catholic star has been seriously interested in the Irish seemingly from the beginning of his recruitment.
“It's the relationships that I've built and the scheme, along with what Notre Dame has for you in the end,” he explained. “Those are the top things that brought me there and most importantly are the relationships.”
He pointed to defensive line coach Al Washington and head coach Marcus Freeman as the ones he’s formed the strongest relationships with so far.
Washington and Freeman have told him they envision using him the same way they used defensive end Isaiah Foskey.
“How it allows the edge player to just be a playmaker,” Rushing said of what he likes about the scheme.
“If you saw Foskey this year, he got to make a lot of plays in that defense. He got to be a playmaker.
And Rushing is also attracted to what Notre Dame can offer him after football is finished.
“Whatever career you want to go in, there are a lot of connections that can get you in spread across the nation,” he said. “And Notre Dame is a global institution. It's just something that's appealing when you look at life after football.”
Rushing has taken officials to UCLA and Arizona the last two weekends.
“They were really good,” he said.
He’ll take officials to Oregon and Tennessee afterward and plans to get into decision mode after those.
