BREAKING | 2025 TE Nate Roberts Commits To Notre Dame
Nate Roberts was never going to let his recruitment drag out.
“Even before my recruiting started, I knew that once I found my spot, I was going to commit,” the 2025 Oklahoma tight end told Irish Sports Daily.
Roberts ended up gathering offers from schools like Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Georgia, Clemson, Michigan, Ohio State and Oregon among several others.
He made trips to Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame within the last week.
“After these last couple visits, I knew exactly where my spot was and there was no need to wait,” he said.
On Saturday afternoon, Roberts announced his commitment to the Irish, joining Florida defensive tackle Davion Dixon to give Notre Dame a pair of verbals in the Class of 2025.
Offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Gerad Parker and head coach Marcus Freeman had tremendous impacts on Roberts’ choice.
“Me and the whole coaching staff have really built a great relationship with each other,” he said. “Me and Coach Parker have really just clicked and I know that's the spot for me.
“Me and him, we really have the same personality. We really just bonded together. We're both really bright guys, really funny guys, my family loves him. He coaches really well. He really makes sure the guys get it and really goes into depth with the guys. He really is an NFL tight ends coach.”
He’s confident in Freeman’s leadership over the entire program.
“He's great,” Roberts said. “We've gone over lots of meetings with him. He's just a great guy. He's really down to earth. He really wants the best for me and I'm really excited. I think me and him will be able to work great together.”
But the Washington High School standout’s list of reasons for choosing Notre Dame can sometimes feel endless.
“The use of tight ends there is just amazing,” he said. “It's known to be Tight End U. They've sent many great tight ends to The League, which is a really big reason. They use a lot of 12 and 11 and 13 personnel, which I love.
“The culture there is amazing. Notre Dame is amazing about that stuff. Tradition is awesome. Everyone just knows about Notre Dame. The campus is beautiful.
“The players who are there right now just seem like great guys and I can really fit in with them, really good people and want to do good in the classroom and on the football field. I feel like I'll fit in perfectly with them and the coaching staff.”
And now that he’s fulfilled his plan of making an early commitment all along, he can turn his attention back to his high school career.
“I'm looking forward to getting this recruiting over, just getting to focus on football this season and not having to really worry about calling coaches, just being able to call that one coach.
“It was really a weight lifted off of my shoulders.”
