2024 Chandler (Ariz.) safety Kennedy Urlacher‍ returned to Notre Dame last weekend for his official visit and from the jump the 6-foot, 185-pounder felt a major difference.

“It was great seeing Notre Dame from a different perspective because now it's home,” Urlacher told ISD. “Last time, I was being recruited.”

The stresses of the recruiting process and finding a future home are long gone for Urlacher,  which allowed him to take his guard down and get a true feel for Notre Dame.

“It’s just a lot different,” Urlacher stated. “It feels a lot more chilled out and relaxed now that I know where I’m going.”

Urlacher was able to meet his future teammates for the first time as Notre Dame hosted several commits.

“We all got along great,” explained Urlacher. “They are fun to be around. Karson Hobbs and Leonard Moore are cool. Leonard is more quiet, but Karson is outgoing and crazy.

“The best part was bonding with my future teammates and coaches.”

Freshman safety Ben Minich hosted Urlacher, but fellow Arizona native Ben Morrison also spent plenty of time with Urlacher.

Perhaps the highlight of the trip came at the ping-pong table as Urlacher faced his future position coach.

“I played ping-pong against Coach (Chris) O’Leary,” laughed Urlacher. “I won. His message was the same thing as last time. We’re building our bond and getting to know each other better.”

Urlacher also spent some quality time with head coach Marcus Freeman, which only confirmed he made the right choice.

“My conversations with Coach Freeman were good,” said Urlacher. “We weren’t talking about anything too important. He’s really cool to talk to and I enjoy talking with him.”
