Matt Jansen Expected to be Named Notre Dame's Director of Scouting
Notre Dame’s Director of Scouting was the last major position to fill this offseason and West Virginia’s Matt Jansen is expected to fill the role, which was vacated by Bill Rees.

Jansen has been part of the Mountaineers staff since 2019 as he started off as a player personnel and recruiting assistant before being promoted to assistant director of scouting. In 2022, Jansen once against was promoted to director of personnel and scouting.
Per his West Virginia bio, Jansen’s job duties include organizing, scouting and assisting with all aspects of game analysis and game planning for the football program, while also working with the head coach and administration on roster management.
Jansen’s role will be slightly less at Notre Dame as Butler Benton will handle the personnel and roster items.
Before taking the job at West Virginia, Jansen was the college scouting coordinator for the Houston Texans where he had a significant hand in scouting draft prospects.
Jansen is a 2011 graduate of Texas Tech where he received his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sports sciences.
