2018 Florida CB Hoping For An Irish Offer
Stanley Garner has plenty of college options already, but the 2018 Florida cornerback is waiting to see what other opportunities come his way before making a final decision.
Notre Dame, specifically, is one of the schools the 6-foot-3, 180-pounder from Fort Lauderdale is hoping to land an offer from at some point.
“I just see that they have a large fan base and their fan base shows a lot of love,” the Dillard High School standout said. “They also send me a lot of mail, so I know I’m on their watch list, I just haven’t gotten an offer yet.”
Garner already has offers from schools like Clemson, South Carolina, Auburn, Miami, Central Florida, Michigan, Tennessee and Kentucky among others, but said Notre Dame is one that would grab his attention.
“They’d be one of my top schools,” he said.
He added that he would like to get to South Bend for a visit as well.
“I just want to see the surroundings, what it’s like outside of the school just to see if it’s home like down here,” he said.
Other schools Garner is hoping for an offer from include Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Penn State, Louisville and UCLA.
Among the offers he has, Garner points to Kentucky, Miami, West Virginia and Clemson as some that are standing out to him right now.
“They just keep in touch with me a lot, especially Miami,” he said.
Garner says coaches are impressed with the package he brings to the position.
“They like that I’m tall and physical at the line and that I have some speed on me and I’m a lengthy DB, so when I get my hands on you, it’s just a wrap,” he said.
He hasn’t taken many visits recently, but expects to get on the road in the coming months.
“Not right now because I’m in basketball season, but I’m about to get out of basketball season,” he said.
Garner will be looking for a good fit on and off the field when picking one school over the rest.
“Just to see what feels like home to me and where I’m most comfortable.”
