2025 CB Tariq Hayer Impresses, Impressed At Notre Dame
Tariq Hayer made his way to the Midwest last week and the 2025 Maryland cornerback is glad he did.
The St. John’s College High School star camped at Notre Dame on June 20th before taking an unofficial visit to Wisconsin a day later.
Hayer enjoyed his time in South Bend.
“It was great,” the 6-foot, 180-pounder said. “I had a little visit and I did the camp too.
“I talked to some of the coaches, took some pictures and got a tour.”
Hayer spent most of his time talking with Dre Brown, Mike Mickens and Marcus Freeman, who delivered a clear message.
“Basically how Notre Dame is up there for football with the Alabamas, Georgias, all them,” Hayer said. “And also with the Ivies with the school, with the education part.”
Hayer appreciated the opportunity to get some work in during the camp as well.
“It was cool,” he said. “They said I had a great camp and it was a good camp.”
The session provided Hayer with a chance to be coached by Mickens.
“It was a great experience just to soak some of that knowledge up,” said Hayer.
Hayer’s offer sheet includes schools like Notre Dame, Maryland, Penn State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Virginia Tech among others.
The Irish offer, which he reported back in March, is one he was honored to receive.
“I was very excited because I really know Notre Dame is a great school, so I was very excited for that,” he said.
Hayer is already considering return trips to South Bend.
“Probably an official visit next year and just keep talking to them throughout the year and probably set up a visit next year.”
