A couple things have become clear about Anthonie Knapp‍ since the 2024 Georgia offensive lineman committed to Notre Dame last month.

One, he’s physical.

“Anthonie is by far the most physical player in our program,” Roswell High School head coach Chris Prewett tells Matt DeBary of Dawg Post. “Physical from being in the weight room and on the field.

“Ultimately, when we talk about being the top dog and the alpha guy, that's got to be our guy. He takes ownership of absolutely everything.”

Two, he’s self-motivated.

“Every other day, I get a text or I get a video of him lifting something heavier,” says Prewett.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder has been passionate about trying to add muscle mass to his frame.

“We've cut him off on a couple lifts just to make sure that he's safe,” Prewett continues. “Even with the equipment we have, we just don't have some of the equipment that can handle some of the stuff he can do.

“He's been nothing but great in that weight room and has done a good job of not only doing his thing, but he's expanded to more of a leadership role too, which has been helpful. Bringing along other kids and bringing along other players who maybe struggle in the weight room. He's really helped motivate them and get them focused and get them going on different things.”

That’s another thing Knapp has been looking to improve on.

“He's got some intangible stuff that I know he's working on,” says Prewett. “Obviously, being a leader is important and being a leader for our team is something - if you asked him - I think that's one of the things he's going to be working on.”

And he’s also working to improve on the field as well.

“The sky's the limit with him,” says Prewett. “He's very talented, but I think the best part and one of the good things you can say about him is that if I try to give him a compliment, he's going to tell me something's wrong or something's not done properly. He's always trying to get better. Even as good as he's doing, he's still trying to get better each day.”

Prewett is confident Knapp will help make the Irish better.

“They're getting a solid young man, but also an outstanding football player.”
