Brandon Caesar‍ had heard about Notre Dame’s reach, but the 2025 Ohio defensive lineman got to see it for himself recently.

“I went to my cousin's graduation in DC,” Caesar says. “I met somebody who went to Notre Dame.

“He had the shirt on, and I'm like, 'You played?' He was like, 'Yeah, I played awhile back.' I met him, had a nice conversation with him. Seemed like a pretty standup dude. That camaraderie would be pretty nice if I go there.

“When you get an education from Notre Dame, you can be recognized from here or there.”

Caesar knows all about what Notre Dame can provide.

“An amazing education,” the Cleveland Heights High School standout says. “It is very prestigious when it comes to education.”

Caesar landed his offer from the Irish during March’s Pot of Gold frenzy and he was in South Bend for the Irish’s spring game in April.

He’ll be back next week for Notre Dame’s Grill & Chill event.

“I'd say to further develop a relationship with the coaches, really try to get deep into Notre Dame and talk to those coaches, get a feel for the culture over there and see if I like it as much as I think I do,” Caesar says of what he’d like to get out of the July 30th visit.

Caesar’s offer sheet also includes schools like Michigan, Michigan State, Alabama, USC, Duke and Wisconsin among several others.

He says the relationships at Notre Dame are “pretty solid” right now.

“I just want to see more, evaluate it even more,” he adds.

Defensive line coach Al Washington has been leading up Caesar’s recruitment for the Irish.

“I like him quite a bit,” Caesar says of Washington. “He's a cool guy. He's pretty cool, calm, collected. I like him all around.”

He likes the competition level at Notre Dame as well as its defense.

“When I was there I talked with a player, and he kind of broke down the defense and what they play in and what they play as,” says Caesar. “I feel like I could be good in that scheme because we kind of run something similar now.”

The 6-foot-4, 255-pounder anticipates playing on the edge at the next level, but also believes he’s athletic enough and has the frame to add weight on to play the interior in spots.

In addition to Notre Dame, Caesar is considering stops at Penn State and Tennessee this week as well.
