Jack Larsen‍ has spent some time before his final season at Charlotte Catholic High School playing 7-on-7 with the Carolina Stars.

“It's fun,” the 2024 Notre Dame tight end commit says. “It's definitely more of a wide receiver-oriented deal, but it's definitely cool. I've played it a little bit this offseason with the Stars. It's fun. It's good to get out there.

“You're not playing with as many people on the field, it's all passing. It's a little more high-tempo, the games are quicker. It's just cool to get through a bunch of games in a day and see how you do.”

While Larsen has enjoyed himself, opponents probably have not.

“I really didn't keep track of many of the numbers,” the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder says. “I scored probably once or twice every game. It was good to get out there. We have a new quarterback, so it was good to connect with him.”

Still, Larsen’s offseason work has been in preparation for in-season games.

“I would say I'm faster off the ball,” says Larsen. “I've gotten stronger. I feel like I'm in the best shape I've ever been in right now. Flexibility too is a big one. I've been trying to stay flexible, just stretching as much as I can.”

He won’t be in South Bend for Notre Dame’s BBQ event this weekend.

“We have workouts and stuff and we start practice and stuff around that time, so I'm just trying to lock in for that and get ready,” he says.

But he expects to get back to South Bend during the fall and will catch at least one road game.

“I'm trying to figure out which games still, but I'm definitely going to Duke when they play at Duke,” he says.

He’s stayed in regular communication with Notre Dame tight ends coach/offensive coordinator Gerad Parker.

“Coming off my official visit, I had a blast,” he says. “I know Coach Parker and a bunch of the coaches were out on vacation before fall camp ramps up. I'm excited and ready for the season and ready to see how they do.

Larsen has also kept in touch with his fellow members of Notre Dame’s 2024 class.

“I love all the guys,” he says. “All good dudes, all good people and I feel like we all blend well together. Just a bunch of really good guys to be around. It's always good getting to see them at games and cookouts and stuff like that. I'm excited for the future.

“I think we're going to be great. It was a great class in 2023. I think we've got a great one right now...I think we can definitely make an impact once we all get there and just start working together. I'm pumped.”
