Interesting 2025 ATH Marquise Davis Visiting Notre Dame This Week
Marquise Davis has an impressive offer sheet.
The 2025 Ohio athlete has offers from schools like Notre Dame, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Wisconsin, Miami, Tennessee, Kentucky, Boston College and Duke among others.
But, it seems schools don’t exactly agree on how the 6-foot-1, 200-pounder could help them best.
“It's been pretty interesting in that he is a bonafide two-way player,” Cleveland Heights High School head coach Mac Stephens says. “Some schools are recruiting him as a defensive player, some are recruiting him as an offensive player. He's pretty dominant on both sides. It's just interesting to see it unfold.
“Initially, Notre Dame was looking at him more on the defensive side. Then, you take a school like Ohio State who's recruiting him as a running back and then Alabama is looking at him as kind of an athlete.”
Stephens understands why there isn’t a consensus, because Davis is great at both.
“If you had asked me 10 years ago, 15 years ago, I would have said running back for sure,” Stephens says. “But the game has evolved so much in that running back is not as prominent in a lot of offenses. I still think he'd be a pretty dynamic running back on the college level. With that being said, I mean, he's very good defensively too.”
Even on defense, it could very well be a blend of multiple positions.
“Some schools are looking at him more as an outside linebacker/strong safety hybrid type player,” Stephens says. “I know Michigan initially started recruiting him as a strong safety, I believe. More like a guy who plays in space but can play that linebacker outside linebacker/strong safety hybrid position.”
Ultimately, though, Stephens could easily see him playing offense at the next level.
Davis was at Notre Dame for the Blue-Gold Game in April along with his teammate, 2025 defensive end Brandon Caesar.
“It was kind of a yucky day outside, but they enjoyed it and I think beyond the football aspect, they were just impressed with everything else that Notre Dame offers,” says Stephens.
They will be back in South Bend this weekend for the Irish’s Grill & Chill event.
Stephens says the duo is seriously interest in Notre Dame.
“Especially in terms of how it prepares you long-term for life. It's pretty impressive to say the least.”
