2025 CB Blake Woodby Talks Notre Dame, Top 12 & More

Since receiving an offer from Notre Dame back in March, Blake Woodby‍ has stayed in touch with Irish cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens.

“We usually get on the phone, talk about ball,” the 2025 Maryland cornerback says of himself and Mickens. “Nothing really specific, just building that relationship, getting a good conversation in.

“Coach Mickens is definitely a good person outside of football. I could see the good people are usually the people who are good coaches at the end of the day. Outside of football, I just feel like he's actually a good person.”

Earlier this month, the St. Frances Academy star announced a Top 12 that included Notre Dame along with Maryland, Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Tennessee, Miami, Oregon, Rutgers, Boston College, Arizona State and Stanford.

“They're the schools that've been keeping up with me, giving me the best relationship, just being able to talk to those guys every single time I get a chance to,” Woodby says.

“Those are the people I've been building the best relationships with.”

Woodby points to Mickens as the biggest reason the Irish were included.

“Like I said, he's a good person and seems like he's a good coach,” Woodby says. “I was more interested in building a relationship with him than other schools.”

Woodby is also interested in getting to South Bend for a visit, possibly in October.

“I definitely want to make a plan where I can get out there,” he says. “I'm trying to make it to Notre Dame-USC for that game.”

He’s already got plans to make it to Ohio State and Clemson for games this fall.
