2025 CB Tariq Hayer Staying In Touch With Notre Dame

After receiving an offer from Notre Dame in March and visiting South Bend in June, 2025 Maryland cornerback Tariq Hayer‍ received a text from the Irish earlier this month checking in.

“It's going great,” Hayer says of how things are going at the moment.

The St. John’s College High School star enjoyed his visit to Notre Dame for a camp this summer.

“The coaches were real cool, making everything comfortable,” the 6-foot, 180-pounder recalls. “They told me and my dad how they've got good football and good education. That's really important too.”

He doesn’t have any visits locked in at the moment and says he could see himself returning to South Bend for an official sometime next year.

“I just want to see some love,” he says. “I just want to see if I fit in for real. That's really what's most important to me.”

In addition to Notre Dame, Hayer’s offer sheet also includes schools like Maryland, Penn State, Tennessee, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Virginia Tech among others.

In addition to Notre Dame, he expects to make visits to Wisconsin and Penn State and Maryland in the coming months.

He is in no rush to make a final decision and it be more than a year from now when he does.

“Probably next year after the season,” says Hayer. “It depends because I might get more offers this season, so I'm going to just wait.”

Comfort and opportunity will play major roles in that decision.

“If I think I can get some playing time and if I fit in the family environment and stuff like that.”
