After making the trip to Notre Dame over the summer, Grant Beerman‍ is fired up about returning to South Bend for the Irish’s home opener against Tennessee State this weekend.

“I got a game invite,” the 2025 Ohio linebacker says. “I've got to take the opportunity to get back up there. I've been wanting to get back up there.”

Beerman plays on the same Lakota West High School defense as 2024 Notre Dame safety commit Taebron Bennie-Powell.

“I talked to Taebron a lot and he told me that he is going up there soon, so I got that game invite and I knew right away I wanted to go up,” says Beerman.

“I went down there for camp earlier this year, and I love the campus. I also love the coaching staff, so that's something that I definitely want to add on and connect with more. I think it's a great opportunity for me going down to the game and being able to talk to the coaches and experience a game.”

Bennie-Powell has told Beerman plenty about Notre Dame already.

“We just started the school year, so I was lucky enough to be in a class with him,” says Beerman. “I'm on the field with him.

“I was able to connect and he tells me how he's in a group chat with all the 2024 commits, how it's just a special connection, how he's always updated. He tells me all about the culture of Notre Dame and how they show it to all the recruits and what they'll being experiencing once he gets there.”

Beerman already has offers from schools like Cincinnati, Duke, Boston College, Pitt and Purdue among others.

“It's special,” he says. “It's definitely special, but with that, I have to be fortunate about it because 11 offers, it can get to people's heads really quickly. With that being said, I'm just taking it one step at a time. I feel very fortunate about it.

“Right now, my focus is on the season and then that comes on the side.”

In addition to Notre Dame, Beerman has also received interest from schools like Ohio State, Iowa and Virginia Tech.

He doesn’t have any other trips locked in yet, but says he “definitely” plans to get to Cincinnati, Duke, Purdue and Pitt.

He knows what he’s looking for in a college program.

“For me, it's definitely the coaches,” he says. “I look for a coach that actually wants to make a connection with the player and shows that they care for the player instead of being told what you want to hear.

“I want to hear the honest truth, I want a coach that will coach me up on my game and watch my film and tell me what I can do better instead of telling me it's great.”
