Notre Dame’s tradition piqued the interest of EJ Walker enough to get him to South Bend this weekend.

During the trip, the 6-foot-8 forward from Kentucky got a better feel for Notre Dame and the men’s basketball program.

“It was fun,” Walker told Irish Sports Daily. “I had a good time.

“We watched some of our practice and then did a photoshoot. After practice, we played open gym with the players and then after that, we chilled for a little bit. We ate some food and then we did a campus tour. Then after that, we just went to a football game.”

The Lloyd Memorial High School standout has offers from schools like Purdue, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Minnesota and West Virginia among others.

He was impressed with Micah Shrewsberry and his staff.

“I liked all the coaches,” Walker said. “They're all nice. It was good talking to all of them, their families and stuff.”

Notre Dame hasn’t offered yet, but it seems clear Walker is a prospect the Irish are evaluating closely.

“They're just really interested in me and told me to keep working,” said Walker.

He enjoyed the opportunity to get on the court and play with the current members of the team.

“It was fun; everybody being able to dribble shoot, pass,” said Walker. “Everybody could play and didn't have any restrictions really.”

He also enjoyed campus.

“I had never been there before, so it was really nice and a good atmosphere,” said Walker.

Walker is planning to visit Minnesota next weekend with future trips to UCLA, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Missouri expected as well.

He expects Notre Dame to come watch him work out soon.

“Then we'll just stay in touch and we'll see.”
