Notre Dame has added another piece to the 2025 class as Batesville (Ind.) RHP Will Jaisle has committed to Shawn Stiffler and the Fighting Irish.

The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder had been to campus before for football games, but his latest visit for an official visit earlier this month sealed the deal as a baseball player.

“After we went to campus, me and my whole family talked about it and we always get this feeling when we go to Notre Dame,” Jaisle told ISD. “The campus is so beautiful. Everyone there is so bought into the culture and the education is really good. You have football games that are sellouts. On the baseball side of things, Coach (Seth) Voltz, Coach (Logan) Robbins and Coach Stiffler are all baseball geniuses and made me feel at home.

“There’s a kid on my travel team, Joe Glander, who is already committed there and he has nothing but good things to say about it. It was the whole experience and made it the right choice in our eyes.”

Jaisle had Notre Dame pegged as his dream school as his uncle and his daughter are graduates, so he was family with the football experience coming to South Bend as a fan.

“When I was younger, I always thought I was going to be a football player,” said Jaisle. “We would go to games and we had probably been to four or five before my visit. My uncle is at Notre Dame grad and his daughter is also a graduate. They would always get us tickets and have us come up there and tailgate with them.”

The Batesville star still plays football as he’s the starting quarterback. In 2022, Jaisle threw for 1,256 yards and 14 touchdowns while also adding 743 yards on the ground with eight more scores.

Jaisle will soon turn his attention to just baseball and he’s excited to be developed by Voltz, who left a lasting impression on how he develops his pitchers.

“Coach Voltz’s philosophies on pitching I really liked,” Jaisle said. “With technology and stuff, everything is so advanced. He doesn’t force anybody to use everything they have. They have all the technology available and certain players get to use certain technologies and others use certain programs that is tailored to them. Your personal gains get bigger when everything is individualized and it’s not the whole team doing one thing.”

Voltz’s ability to connect with Jaisle also left an impression as it was clear Notre Dame wanted him and believed he could help the program.

“He’s a really chill guy and very personable, so he’s easy to talk to. During the process, he was just trying to make me feel they wanted me there as much as I wanted to be there. That was a big thing for me. If I had gotten an offer from a school, I wanted to know they truly wanted me there.

“I felt like Coach Voltz made it clear and the rest of the coaching staff really wanted me. They saw me as a guy with a good amount of potential and athleticism they can develop.”

Robbins is quickly becoming known as a dynamic recruiter and is known for his infectious energy, which is something Jaisle quickly noticed the first time they connected.

“The first conversation I ever had with him was actually about football,” laughed Jaisle. “He sent me a video of Derrick Henry stiff arming someone into the ground and he said he expected me to send a video of me doing that to somebody. I knew I already liked him because he brought the energy to the table.

“He’s hilarious and fun to talk to. He was a big part of the process.”

Jaisle is also excited to join a strong recruiting haul of arms in Notre Dame’s 2025 class. The ability to compete, but also be pushed by his peers was something Jaisle was looking for and found with the Irish.

“I didn't want to go somewhere where I was the only one with goals and aspirations of winning championships and getting to the next level,” explained Jaisle. “I want to be surrounded by people my age who will make me compete and work hard.

“If you don’t have those people around you, then you’re not going to have that desire and want to get better.”

As for his recruitment, Jaisle had other visits set, but the comfort he found at Notre Dame was obvious, so the Indiana native only took one more visit following his trip to South Bend.

“I had five visits scheduled,” Jaisle stated. “After I went to Notre Dame, I went to Xavier and I really liked it there. It was a hard decision, but Notre Dame eventually came out on top. I also had a visit to Ball State and Nebraska scheduled. I was thinking about going to Georgia Tech, but after going to Notre Dame, I ended up not scheduling that one.”

Jaisle will fit right into Notre Dame’s culture as there is great pride in staying home and welcoming the challenge of competing in the ACC against southern schools for the chance to get to Omaha.

“Even in high school and travel ball, I feel the players from Indiana all have that chip on our shoulders because Indiana is underrated as a baseball state,” said Jaisle. “We feel we can go out and compete with anyone. Staying in Indiana, I’m excited to have that opportunity to battle it out with some of those southern schools and get to Omaha.”
