2025 QB Bear Bachmeier Excited For Notre Dame Return Visit
Notre Dame football is 3-0 and the Irish will welcome Central Michigan to South Bend on Saturday afternoon.
The Fighting Irish will also welcome an important visitor as 2025 Murrieta Valley (Calif.) quarterback Bear Bachmeier will make a return visit to Notre Dame for the weekend.
“I’m super excited,” Bachmeier told ISD. “My grandfather was a die-hard fan. I’m just excited to go see what the South Bend experience is like.”
The 6-foot-1, 225-pounder is off to a hot start for the Nighthawks as he’s led his team to a 2-1 start, but more importantly, Bachmeier is noticing growth in his game as a junior.
“I think the little intricacies of playing quarterback as far as pocket presence and taking a big role as a leader,” Bachmeier said of where he’s grown. “I definitely think I’ve taken some steps.”
Bachmeier’s development over the last year has put him on the radar of several programs, including Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon and Texas A&M.
The Irish offered in mid-July and Bachmeier is looking to forward to taking a deep dive into Notre Dame this weekend after getting a quick feel a few years ago when he came for camp.
“When Hank was going through the process, he went up there,” explained Bachmeier. “I think Coach Rees was there at the time, but I don’t think he ever pulled the trigger on him.
“My older brother, Tiger, who is at Stanford, we actually went up there for camp for him to get looked at and I was the little brother who got to tag along. I did a camp as well, but I wasn’t really getting recruited. I’m definitely excited to get up there.”
What does Bachmeier want to experience this weekend?
It’s pretty simple. The California native wants to get to know the staff and see what game day at Notre Dame is all about.
“I definitely want to sit down with Coach Freeman, Coach Guidugli and Coach Parker to talk some football with the coaches,” stated Bachmeier. “That’s really it. Obviously, I want to see the environment of the crowd and South Bend.”
Bachmeier has seen his older brothers go through national recruitments and he’s experienced in taking his own visits, so there are also certain aspects of the visit he will be paying close attention to during the visit.
“You want to develop great relationships with all the coaches,” Bachmeier explained. “A couple of factors I’m looking at are offensive scheme, QB development and then can I get dudes here. I know Notre Dame checks all those boxes.”
There is also some familiarity with 2024 Notre Dame quarterback commit CJ Carr as both attended the same camp in July. Bachmeier and Carr were also quarterbacks for California Power during the 7-on-7 season, but never played together.
“He was the quarterback and they asked me to do the last 7-on-7 tournament when he was at the Elite 11,” Bachmeier stated. “I never really bumped into him there. I went to a camp in July and hung out with him. He was really cool. I’m not really like tight with him, but we’re cool.”
And when it comes to future visits, Bachmeier is taking it day by day as Notre Dame is the only visit he’s set at this point.
“If something late pops up, I’ll see, said Bachmeier. “But Notre Dame was one I wanted to check out in the fall. That’s what I have planned for right now.”
