Coach | 2025 PG Azavier Robinson's Interest In Notre Dame Is Serious
Azavier Robinson can shoot, dribble, pass and defend, but there’s another trait that jumps out most to George Hill AAU coach Mike Saunders about the 2025 Indiana point guard.
“Definitely his motor,” Saunders says of the 6-foot-1 Robinson. “He has a high motor that he carries on both ends of the court offensively and defensively.
“Obviously, with his size, he has a very long wingspan and his athleticism. I think all those really help him out. I think his wingspan definitely helps him, especially on the defensive end and that power and athleticism that he has. He is able to carry it on both ends of the court offensively and defensively.”
Off the court, Robinson is chill.
“He's very laid back,” says Saunders. “That's why they call him a young Kawhi Leonard, because off the court he's real relaxed. He has a lot of siblings, so he likes to spend time with them, but he's pretty laid back off the court.
“On the court, like I said, he's very aggressive, very focused when it comes to the games and the strategies and things like that. So he has that switch. He reminds everybody of a Kawhi Leonard, his mannerisms, how he plays the game, how he is off the court. Very, very similar.”
Robinson’s offer sheet includes schools like Notre Dame, Butler, St. John’s, TCU, Oklahoma State, Temple and others.
The Irish offer was important to him.
“It meant a lot,” says Saunders. “It meant a lot because the kid's a 3.8, 3.9 student, so he's a kid whose parents really, really stress academics.
“They put him in challenging classes, so knowing that you have an opportunity to go to Notre Dame who is obviously known for the academics on top of the athletic dynamic, it checks a lot of boxes. You're able to do that in-state and it's only about three hours from home. I definitely think it meant a lot.”
Robinson took a trip to South Bend earlier this month and Saunders says it’s a school he’s absolutely considering seriously.
“No question,” he says. “No question.”
Robinson heads to Ohio State this weekend, Indiana the next and Illinois a couple weeks after that.
