Notre Dame has a ton of momentum on the recruiting trail in the 2018 class, but the Irish aren’t stopping there. The 2019 class saw multiple offers go out over the last few weeks, and 2019 St. John’s College (D.C.) linebacker Shane Lee received his offer on March 6th.

“It was very humbling to get an offer from Notre Dame,” the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “Notre Dame is a great school. I am blessed to have an opportunity to go there.”

The four-star prospect already has an impressive offer list with the likes of Clemson, Michigan, Nebraska, and Ohio State listed, but Lee knows the work is just beginning.

“The opportunities are great,” said Lee. “It's good to know the hard work I have put in is paying off. I have to stay on the grind, and I thank God every day.

“Nothing in life comes easy. I am working now so it becomes easier later.”

Speaking of work, Lee is working hard this offseason to improve his game. The Washington D.C. native has had coaches tell him they love his ability to get to the point of attack, so naturally, Lee is working on his agility to help in the pass game.

“I am working on my hip flexibility and my mobility overall,” explained Lee. “I want to cover in space better with my man-to-man skills.”

Lee is listed as an inside linebacker on most scouting services, but he could end up elsewhere at the next level. On film, Lee lines up all over the field, and he is more than willing to play wherever his future team needs him.

“A couple of schools have told me they see me inside, but some of them have told me I would learn a couple of different linebacker spots,” he stated. “I think once I get older, and start to narrow down my choices, the conversation will come up and be more clear.

“I want to play wherever the team can best use me.”

Lee’s recruitment might be in the early stages, but he has made himself available to coaching staffs by getting out to various programs this winter, including stops at Clemson and Ohio State.

“I have been to Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State Pittsburgh, and Clemson this spring,” Lee said. “Columbus was a beautiful city, and the people were nice. I got to walk around on campus and visited some places off campus with my family. There were just positive vibes from the Ohio State.

“Clemson was the same thing, to be honest. The people showed great hospitality. The coaches were nice, and it was a really good experience at both schools.”

South Bend is a destination on the Lee list and is already working on fitting a trip to Notre Dame into the family schedule.

“My family and I are working on getting out to Notre Dame,” Lee explained. “I want to get out there to check everything out. I want to learn everything that I can. I don’t know too much about Notre Dame, so I have to do my homework. I am going to look them up on the internet.”

Lee might not know a lot about Notre Dame right now, but he has a friend, 2017 Notre Dame signee Kofi Wardlow, that will be in his ear about the program, and will be able to give first-hand experiences about the positives and negatives of the program.

“I have a former teammate that is signed there, and I am going to ask him about it,” said Lee. “He told me he’d wait a little bit before getting on my all the time about Notre Dame.”
