BREAKING | 2025 QB Deuce Knight Has Committed to Notre Dame
BOOM.
George County High School (Miss.) quarterback Deuce Knight has committed to Notre Dame and it gives the Fighting Irish program the face of the 2025 recruiting class.
How did Notre Dame land one of the top quarterbacks in the country? Persistence and a consistent approach as Marcus Freeman, Gerad Parker, Gino Guidugli and Chad Bowden developed strong relationships with the Mississippi State.
“I feel like the energy that they bring into recruiting is different, the effort they put into recruiting,” Knight told ISD earlier this year. “Coach Gino, we probably talk like four times a week.”
Freeman was not only active in Knight’s recruitment, but the Notre Dame head coach went above and beyond, including making time for the four-star prospect while on vacation in Hawaii over the summer.
“I talk to him more than any head coach who is recruiting me,” Knight says of Freeman. “The effort they put into recruiting their guys is different.”
Knight made his first visit to South Bend for spring practice and it immediately made the Fighting Irish a contender. At the end of July, Knight returned to Notre Dame fo a visit with his mother, which likely tipped the scale in favor of the Irish.
“She loved it, especially the conversation with Coach Freeman,” Knight said following the trip. “That really hit it there for her because she doesn’t really care too much about football, just life. Coach Freeman was saying that God forbid, if I did get hurt I could still be successful just by going to Notre Dame and the people I could network with.”
During the visit in July, Knight also spoke to Sam Hartman, who became the first Notre Dame quarterback to throw for 10 touchdowns in the first three games of season.
“It was good talking to Sam because he entered the transfer portal, so it was kind of like he restarted his recruitment,” Knight stated. “I got to speak with him about how he felt about Notre Dame and all of the advice he could give me.”
The 6-foot-4, 195-pounder burst on the recruiting radar for Notre Dame and many others following his sophomore season. Knight really turned heads following his showing at the Elite 11 in Oxford (Miss.) this spring as he tested off the charts.
Knight checked in over 6-foot-4, but then he ran a 4.53 40 and recorded a vertical of 41.9 inches.
The commitment gives Notre Dame its third commitment in the 2025 recruiting class as Knight joins running back Justin Thurman and defensive lineman Davion Dixon.
