It’s not a secret Notre Dame running back coach Autry Denson takes pride in recruiting his home state of Florida, but he probably gets a little more excited when he gets to recruit a running back from the Sunshine State.

Denson will get the chance to recruit one of Florida’s top running backs in the 2018 class as Notre Dame offered Jashaun Corbin on Monday night and the two have developed a good rapport recently.

“Our relationship has gotten a lot stronger in the last few weeks,” Corbin told Irish Sports Daily. “We talk pretty frequently. I’d say we talk every day and he sends me motivational quotes every day too.”

The four-star prospect was on the phone with Denson when he was asked to get his family together.

“He offered me late on Monday night,” explained the 6-foot-1, 186-pounder. “Coach Denson told me he wanted to talk to my family and I on speaker phone. He started talking about the school and how they recruit their players.

“Then he said I fit all the criteria Notre Dame looks for, and he gave me the offer.”

It was a memorable moment for the Corbin family as Denson took the time to make sure they were all involved when he extended the offer.

“It was special to have my family there,” stated Corbin. “It was the first time a program offered me on the phone with my family. They were excited for me.”

The Holy Trinity star has blown up in the last few weeks as Florida, Georgia Tech, LSU, Michigan, and South Carolina, have also offered him this month.

“It feels great,” Corbin said. “I feel like all the hard work is starting to pay off. I am just blessed, and I am taking them as they come. I am giving God all the glory.

“Florida State, Oregon, LSU, Ole Miss, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Michigan and Florida are recruiting me the hardest. Clemson, North Carolina, and Tennessee are starting to recruit me kind of hard now too.”

One school that could be out in front early is Florida State. The Seminoles offered Corbin in January, and he took an unofficial visit to Tallahassee a few weeks ago.

“It was a pretty good trip,” explained Corbin. “I really enjoyed it. I got to meet with Coach (Jimbo) Fisher and the running backs coach. I got to talk with some of the recruits considering going there.”

Corbin hasn’t planned out a ton of visits yet, but he hopes to get to Notre Dame and other out of state programs over the summer.

“I am trying to get to a bunch of schools,” said Corbin. “I will probably go to Florida in the next week or so because its only about a two-hour drive from my house. Out of state, I don’t have any visits set up yet. I will probably try to get to those schools this summer.”
