Notre Dame CB Commit Karson Hobbs Talks South Bend Returns
Karson Hobbs plans to make every Notre Dame home game possible this season.
The 2024 Irish cornerback commit had to miss the Central Michigan game and won’t be able to attend the USC game next week.
“We play on Saturday at four o'clock,” the Archbishop Moeller standout says. “I'm extremely upset about that.”
The Ohio native isn’t just a Notre Dame commit, he’s a lifelong fan, which makes missing such a showdown doubly difficult for him, but he’s also more focused on his senior season than his future.
After losing three of its first four games this season, Moeller has won three straight under first-year head coach Bert Bathiany.
“Just trusting the defense, trusting the team and the coaches,” Hobbs said of the recent streak. “You just have to start to look around and trust the people around you and just figure it out and work to become the best version of Moeller each and every week.”
Hobbs has made it to a couple Irish games already.
“It's been great,” he says. “Walking through with the team at the Ohio State game was fun. Honestly, I'm getting to go more than I did last year now that I'm a commit. When you go up there, it almost feels like you're just counting the days until you move in.
“It's great because these are the guys who will be with each other for the next three or four years in college, just getting to know each other, figuring out who's going to try to get a place with who or whatever and whatnot.”
Hobbs has become especially close with guys like Logan Saldate, Cam Williams, CJ Carr, Aneyas Williams and Kennedy Urlacher, but says the entire 2024 class is tight.
“We've all got a strong connection,” he says. “We talk in the group chat a lot, almost every day.”
Hobbs is excited about the state of the Notre Dame program that he’ll be entering.
“We have great coaches and we have a great team atmosphere and a great fan base, so I'm just excited to be able to go showcase my skills and show all the Irish fans what I can do.”
