2025 S Trey McNutt Excited For First Notre Dame Game

After a pair of visits earlier in the year, Trey McNutt III‍ is excited to be returning to Notre Dame for the Irish’s primetime game against USC on Saturday.

“I bet it's going to be electric,” the 2025 Ohio safety says. “I haven't gotten to a Notre Dame game yet. It is going to be my first one, so I'm excited.”

McNutt was in South Bend shortly after being offered a scholarship by the Irish back in March and returned in June.

The 6-foot, 180-pounder’s offer sheet also includes the likes of Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Kentucky and USC among several others.

The Shaker Heights High School star is excited to see another aspect of Notre Dame.

“See how their fans are and just enjoy the visit,” he says. “Just see how it's going to feel if I was playing on that field.”

He’s kept in touch with Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman and other staff members over the past few months.

“It's been good,” says McNutt. “I've talked to Coach Freeman, talked to all the other coaches and all that, so it's been good. We've just been staying connected.”

The message from the Irish staff has been a simple one.

“Just think big,” he says of what he’s being told. “I mean, Notre Dame is a different place than many others. It's different at Notre Dame.”

McNutt has already visited Penn State and Tennessee this season and is planning to be at Ohio State next weekend for the Buckeyes’ game against the Nittany Lions.

McNutt doesn’t have a timeline for a decision just yet.
