2025 WR Daylan McCutcheon Looks Forward To Notre Dame Return
After an eye-opening visit to South Bend in the spring, Daylan McCutcheon is excited to be returning this weekend.
“I'm looking forward to being able to see the dorms up at Notre Dame and see more of the things I didn't see last time,” the 2025 Texas wide receiver says.
The Irish offered the 6-foot, 175-pounder during their Pot of Gold push back in March. Head coach Marcus Freeman and receivers coach Chansi Stuckey have impressed McCutcheon ever since.
“They've just been showing a lot of love,” McCutcheon says. “I like what Coach Freeman and Coach Stuckey are doing up there, being able to develop guys and just bringing in people and teaching and things like that.”
McCutcheon says he hears from Notre Dame “almost every day through text messages and sometimes calling.”
The message is a simple one.
“Just keep grinding, keep your head down, and just be able to stay focused and trust the process,” says McCutcheon.
The Lovejoy High School standout also has offers from schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford and Oregon among several others.
McCutcheon took note of 2025 quarterback Deuce Knight’s commitment to the Irish.
“That definitely brings a spark into the Notre Dame program, knowing that if I go there, I'll have a quarterback being able to throw me passes,” he says.
McCutcheon was at the Florida State-LSU game at the start of the season and was at Texas for the Longhorns’ game against Kansas last month. He’s planning to be at Ohio State next week for the Buckeyes’ game against Penn State and in Tallahassee next month to see Florida State play Miami.
He expects to have a group of leaders soon.
“I think I'm going to start narrowing down my top 11 probably after all my visits and then probably commit during the summer, but I'm not too sure about it,” he says.
And knows what he’s looking for in a college.
“Just a school that's able to support me academically and be able to develop me throughout the years and be able to help me go pro and just be able to build chemistry with others and be able to have a family. “
