Daylan McCutcheon‍ returned to South Bend last weekend after the 2025 Texas wide receiver made his first trip to Notre Dame back in the spring.

McCutcheon arrived early enough to take in much of what the Irish have to offer in the leadup to Saturday night’s game against USC.

“It went good,” McCutcheon told Irish Sports Daily. “I was able to be in the indoor facility with all the commits and non-commits and be able to meet people and see new faces and then be able to go on the field.”

McCutcheon had chances to visit with Dre Brown, Chansi Stuckey and Marcus Freeman.

“They were really glad to see that I was able to make it to South Bend,” McCutcheon said of the Irish coaches. “They were just saying, 'Keep working hard and keep your head down and we'd love to see you again at another game.'

“They're really great people. I definitely love being around them and I would consider it my home.”

The 6-foot, 175-pounder also enjoyed the chance to spend time with some of Notre Dame’s commits, including 2025 quarterback pledge Deuce Knight.

“They're really good people,” McCutcheon said. “I especially know Deuce. He's always telling me about Notre Dame, how it's going to be special and they're going to throw the rock.”

McCutcheon’s offer sheet includes Notre Dame along with schools like Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State, Stanford and Oregon among several others.

He was impressed with the Irish during their 48-20 win over USC.

“I think they played really well, especially from the defensive standpoint; being able to stop USC on almost every drive and then offensively they kept pounding it with the run and being able to have some explosive plays passing the ball,” he said.

McCutcheon heads to Ohio State this weekend with trips to Florida State and Tennessee likely to round out the fall.

He’d like to return to Notre Dame down the road.

“They're a really good school and I definitely consider them one of the top teams that I will consider committing to. But obviously I don't have any favorites right now, so I'm still deciding.”
