Notre Dame In The Mix For Top 2025 Hoopster Cam Ward
Cam Ward has emerged as one of the nation’s top hoops prospects in the Class of 2025.
The Maryland swingman has made a few visits this fall, including one to Notre Dame back in September, where he enjoyed his time with head coach Micah Shrewsberry and assistant coach Mike Farrelly.
“It went great, honestly,” the 6-foot-7, 210-pounder said. “The visit was amazing. When I got down there, it was just great vibes when I got down there with Coach Farrelly and Coach Shrews.
“I was on campus with the guys and some of the commits, so they showed me around, had a great time. That's all I can say, really. I just had a great time. And playing with those guys in the gym, it was just a fun experience for me overall.”
The Largo High School standout’s offer sheet includes schools like Virginia, Maryland, Florida State, Michigan State, Texas, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Georgetown, Arkansas and Villanova among others.
While in South Bend, Ward got the feeling he could fit in with the people there.
“Because of how they interact and their personalities,” he said. “It wasn't awkward or anything when I was around them. It just felt like I had known them for a while, just how we were communicating and how we were around each other.”
The versatile Ward also sees a potential fit on the court.
“Coach Shrewsberry says he wants basketball players,” he explained. “He doesn't want any position guys. He wants basketball players who know how to hoop, know how to handle gametime situations and make smart decisions. I feel like my game is everything that he says it is and everything that they introduce to their guys. I feel like I could play their system…because of how he coaches.
“He coaches very strict, but he also lets you play and he has a lot of personality guys; guys who are just high energetic, want to win and are very competitive. I feel like that's why I would fit.”
Ward has since made trips to Maryland and Florida State and could have some additional trips coming, including a potential return to Notre Dame.
“I definitely want to get back there. When it's time to make my decision, I'll probably go back just to make sure that this is somewhere that I would like to play. I'm still up in air about it. I would obviously go back just because I would love to make a decision come next year. They said that they'll come see you throughout the year, maybe go to a game or two.”
