Notre Dame RG Rocco Spindler To Miss Remainder of Season with Knee Injury
Notre Dame's offensive line hadn't suffered a major change for most of the year, but the trip to Clemson was a costly one in real-time and afterward.
The Irish lost starting center Zeke Correll during the game and then a few plays later his backup Andrew Kristofic went down with an injury, which led to third-string Ashton Craig finishing the game.
On Monday, Marcus Freeman announced the most significant injury as junior guard Rocco Spindler will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury. The 6-foot-4, 315-pounder started all 10 games in 2023 and had been playing his best ball of the season over the last few games.
The Michigan native won the starting right guard job early into fall camp as he held off Kristofic and others to secure the spot vacated by Josh Lugg.
Spindler has tallied the fifth most snaps on the offensive side of the ball with 559, which only trailed Joe Alt, Blake Fisher, Pat Coogan and Sam Hartman.
Sophomore Billy Schrauth filled in for Spindler on the final drive of the Clemson game as it appeared the injury happened on the drive before Phil Mafah fumbled the ball back to the Irish.
