Brandon Hettwer‍ made the trip out to Notre Dame from North Carolina earlier this month and the 2025 North Carolina tight end left impressed.

“It went well,” the 6-foot-5, 215-pounder told Irish Sports Daily. “It went really well.

“I got to see the facilities and game time atmosphere. I got to see the Player Walk and I saw part of the campus, so it was really cool.”

The Community School of Davidson was impressed with the facilities in South Bend.

“I think they were amazing, they were awesome,” he said.

Hettwer, who received an offer from Maryland over the summer, had the chance to speak with some Irish staffers while on campus.

“I talked to the tight end coach and then one of the player analysis guys,” he said. “(Gerad Parker) just said that they use a lot of tight ends, to just keep up with him for film and stuff and yeah.”

Hettwer also enjoyed taking in the Irish’s 45-7 win over Wake Forest.

“It's loud,” he said. “It's an historic atmosphere. It's cool. I enjoyed it a lot.

“They played really well. They beat them by like 30.”

The Charlotte native has a possible trip in mind this weekend.

“I might go to App State, but I don't know yet…since it's right after Thanksgiving,” he said.

He does plan to remain in touch with the Irish.

“Just keep in contact with them and just work hard in the offseason. I'm just really interested in the college, though.”
