2024 WR Commit Logan Saldate Solid With Notre Dame
Logan Saldate was nervous when the text came in from South Bend on Tuesday afternoon for him to call over to Notre Dame.
“I was just sitting in class and I got the scary text for me to call them,” the 2024 California wide receiver recalled.
“That's when it all went down.”
Of course, the Notre Dame commit was referring to the Irish’s dismissal of wide receiver coach Chansi Stuckey.
“It was the last thing I was expecting, to be honest,” Saldate said. "I called Chad Bowden and he just said, 'Hey, Logan, we've decided to release the receiver coach Chansi Stuckey.'
“That was basically it.”
Saldate said he is “definitely locked in” with Notre Dame despite the move.
“I chose Notre Dame because it's Notre Dame and I believe in Coach (Marcus) Freeman and what he's building,” he added.
“I love Coach Stuckey and I wish him and his family the best, but Coach Freeman just has to do what's right for Notre Dame and the team.”
Saldate had been committed to Oregon State before flipping to Notre Dame over the summer.
“Chad was originally the one who had reached out to me and stuff to begin the recruiting process, so he, him and Coach Freeman definitely made it clear they wanted me to stay,” he said.
Saldate added the fact that he has relationships with multiple people at Notre Dame makes his decision easier.
“I think that's definitely going to have a huge impact; right now especially, but even more when I'm on campus and I don't have to re-meet or meet anyone else,” he said. “I already know them and have a close connection with them. I feel like it's just creating a stronger family and a stronger connection.”
Saldate wanted to make his intentions to Notre Dame fans clear.
“Make sure to make it known that I'm not going anywhere. I'm all Irish.”
