Notre Dame CB Ryan Barnes Set to Enter Transfer Portal
Junior cornerback Ryan Barnes has announced his intention to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal.
“I would like to thank The University of Notre Dame for the past few years of my life,” Barns said in a statement. “All of the things I’ve learned and experienced will forever be a part of who I am and who I will grow to be.
“Thank you to the Notre Dame coaching staff, faculty and fans for welcoming me into the Irish Family and continuing to support me throughout my time here. The love that I have for my teammates will continue with me for the rest of my life and I couldn’t be more thankful for that.
“With that being said, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal. I will always love the Irish and I’m excited for new opportunities.”
The 6-foot-1, 186-pounder appeared in seven games in his three years with the program, including four as a freshman in 2021.
As a sophomore, Barnes played just one game and in 2023, the Maryland native appeared in two games.
Barnes chose the Irish over Clemson, Duke, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Maryland, Michigan, NC State, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.
