BREAKING | 2025 S Ivan Taylor Commits To Notre Dame
For months now, Notre Dame and Ivan Taylor have seemed like an obvious fit.
On Friday, it became official with the elite 2025 Florida safety announcing his commitment to the Irish.
Notre Dame views the 6-foot, 170-pounder Taylor as one of the very best safety prospects in the entire country, he was a top-of-the-board target for the Irish and his offer sheet backs that up.
Taylor chose Notre Dame over offers from schools like Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Michigan, Penn State and USC among several others.
He camped in South Bend over the summer and then returned for back-to-back home games against Pittsburgh and Wake Forest this fall.
Taylor is the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers star cornerback Ike Taylor.
Despite all of the attention that comes with being the son of an NFL star coupled with the attention that comes with being a top national prospect, Taylor kept himself grounded throughout the process, preferring substance over style.
That is one of the reasons the Irish recognized him as such a perfect fit so early. They felt their staff could provide the meaningful relationships Taylor was looking for and Chris O’Leary, Al Golden, Chad Bowden and the rest of the staff did just that.
“I really don't care about the stars,” Taylor told ISD. “I don't care about any of the politics. I honestly try to stay off of social media as much as I can. I just care about the personal connections. I know I can have that forever. I feel like the coaching staff is the most important thing to me because it's who I'm going to be playing with, who's going to be calling the calls.
“That's just how I feel about things. Me and my head coach, me and my dad, my dad was a coach. We've always had a personal connection. My head coach right now, my dad and I want the same connection with the coaches.”
Taylor made no secret that he felt he found that with the coaches at Notre Dame and they were an enormous reason he chose the Irish.
“The coaches are honestly the best part about it, hands down. The coaches are just so welcoming.”
