Top 2025 OL Target Will Black Returning To Notre Dame

Will Black‍ didn’t have the chance to take many visits this fall, but the elite 2025 offensive line target plans to get back on the road this winter and already has a trip to Notre Dame locked in later this month.

The Choate Rosemary Hall standout tells Irish Sports Daily he will be in South Bend on Dec. 16th for a bowl practice at Notre Dame.

The 6-foot-7, 290-pound Canadian took in a Notre Dame game during the 2022 season and was in South Bend for the Lineman’s Challenge this summer, when he landed his scholarship offer from the Irish.

He’s looking forward to reconnecting with Notre Dame offensive line coach Joe Rudolph.

“I want to see how Coach Rudolph coaches,” he says. “I went to camp so I got to see how he coaches a little bit, but I want to see how he coaches with his team. I'm going to get to see that in practice and then I'm going to sit in on the meetings, so I'm excited for that.”

He has kept in contact with Rudolph, offensive coordinator Gerad Parker and head coach Marcus Freeman throughout the Fall.

“I've been calling Coach Rudolph every Wednesday since I got here,” says Black, who arrived in Connecticut from Canada in August. “I've definitely stayed in touch with him. And Coach Parker, the offensive coordinator, I've called him every week too. I've kept in touch with Coach Freeman as well on text every week.”

The message from the Irish staff has been consistent.

“Mainly just that I would be a very good fit for Notre Dame between the academics there, because I come from a high academic high school and Notre Dame is one of the best universities, so the fit there and their football culture, they think I'd be a very good fit,” he says.

“Coach Rudolph thinks he can develop me to be a very good football player.”

Black made a smooth transition from playing football in Canada to playing football in the States, helping to lead Choate to an undefeated record and a NEPSAC Championship.

Black has dozens of other offers, including schools like Michigan, Penn State and Alabama.

Because all of his games were on Saturday afternoon, Michigan was the only school he was able to visit this fall, taking in the Wolverines’ win over Ohio State a couple weeks ago. He’s hoping to return to Ann Arbor as well as Penn State and Alabama in the coming weeks, but says those are not yet scheduled.

“I've only scheduled Notre Dame,” he says.

He isn’t in a rush to make a commitment and doesn’t expect to make a final decision until well into next year.

“I want to take a few official visits in the spring or summer and then commit after that probably.”
