LB Jack Kiser Returning to Notre Dame

Notre Dame linebacker Jack Kiser will return to the Fighting Irish for year six and gives Al Golden some much-needed experience in what has now turned into a young linebacker corps.

The Royal Center (Ind.) native has started the last three seasons at Rover and is coming off a career-high 59 tackles in 2022. Now, 2022 might have been a touch more productive as Kiser made 58 stops, including 5.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

There are several paths of thought with Kiser as Notre Dame will be much younger heading into the 2024 season. Kiser provides priceless experience and 182 career tackles, which can’t be matched. It’s also not a stretch Kiser would like a chance to win the Mike spot to help his NFL future if JD Bertrand moves to the NFL.

If Kiser moves inside to Mike, he’ll likely be competing against Drayk Bowen, who has drawn rave reviews from the coaching staff following his freshman campaign. There is some flexibility with Kiser as he can play all three linebacker spots, so he could also find a home at Will if he doesn’t stay at Rover.

Kiser made one start at Mike for the Central Michigan game in 2023 and finished with a career-best 10 tackles and one sack.

The entire Notre Dame program will also benefit greatly from Kiser’s returning leadership as he’ll be one of the few who has played in a College Football Playoff game.
