Notre Dame DL Howard Cross III Returning for 2024 Season

Notre Dame got a significant boost to its defensive line for the 2024 season as Howard Cross III announced he would be returning to school. 

Cross had a massive 2023 campaign as he recorded 64 tackles, 6.0 tackles for loss, one sack and forced two fumbles in 12 games. The production is rare for an interior lineman, but the nation took notice as he was named a Second-Team All-American by Pro Football Focus and Walter Camp. 

In five seasons, the 6-foot-, 288-pounder has tallied 139 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, six sacks and forced three fumbles in 50 career games. 

The New Jersey native finished second on the team in tackles in 2023 and also led the Irish with 36 quarterback hurries and 32 run stops. Cross also recorded a career-high 13 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss in the win against Duke.
