It’s been a big last few days for 2024 Notre Dame receiver commit Logan Saldate‍.

Last week, Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman dropped by for an in-home visit and then new receivers coach Mike Brown made an in-home visit on Tuesday night.

And while both visits meant a great deal to Saldate, the highlight came on Saturday as the four-star prospect led Palma (Calif.) to its first state title.

”It was pure happiness,” Saldate said of his state championship. “That’s all I can say. It’s amazing to end on a win let alone a state championship.”

Saldate didn’t celebrate too long as it was back to business with Brown’s trip to the house.

It was an important visit in the sense that Saldate and Brown wanted to build a relationship and simply meet face-to-face.

“He’s super laid back and my style to be honest,” stated Saldate. “I’m even more excited to sign and hurry up and get on campus. I’m excited for him to develop me. He was telling me and my family about his background. We’re just super excited.”

Brown was also able to lay out his plan for Saldate once he arrives in June, but he also spoke about some of the success at Cincinnati, which included helping develop Alec Pierce, Tyler Scott and Tre Tucker into NFL Draft picks.

“That’s what really excited me,” explained Saldate. “There are very few receiver coaches out there. There are a lot of receiver recruiters out there, but a coach who can develop and teach is what I want. That’s what Notre Dame is getting.”

The California native never came close to backing off his commitment to Notre Dame, but after spending a few hours with his future position coach, Saldate and his family are even more excited to get to South Bend.

“I’ve always been locked in,” Saldate said. “This just makes it better. I already knew before even meeting Coach Brown because I was confident Coach Freeman was going to find a good fit.

“My dad was very pleased. My grandparents were there and they were happy with where I’m at.”

While Brown’s visit was important, Saldate also had to pinch himself last week when Freeman made the trip out to California.

“That was unreal,” laughed Saldate. “I would be chilling and then think Marcus Freeman is really at my house. Then it was like, he’s going to be my head coach and I’ll see him every day. It meant a lot not only to me, but to my family.”

Notre Dame’s director of recruiting, Chad Bowden, also joined Freeman on the trip.

Saldate didn’t hesitate to explain how much Bowden has meant to him during the recruiting process.

“Without Chad, I’m not at Notre Dame,” said Saldate. “He means a lot. He does everything. He’s always reaching out and checking in. He really just reassures me on every little thing. I check in with him a lot.”
