2025 WR Daylan McCutcheon Set For Notre Dame Return
As colleges wrap up their 2024 recruiting, Daylan McCutcheon knows the schools and those who follow recruiting the closest will shift their attention to his class.
“It just means a lot of pressure is going to come up in a couple of weeks with all these schools,” the 2025 Texas receiver says. “That's truly what it means.A lot of schools will blow up my phone.
“I'm looking forward to seeing what schools are interested in talking to me. Obviously, I have to stay true to myself on what things I want and don't want.”
Notre Dame is one school that has already shown its interest, offering the 6-foot, 175-pounder back in March and hosting him for a pair of visits soon. If that’s not enough, McCutcheon’s main contact for recruiting to this point has been head coach Marcus Freeman.
“He just continues to tell me to keep grinding and he can't wait for me to be able to come up during January 20th during their Junior Day,” McCutcheon says.
The Lovejoy High School standout is looking forward to getting back to see the new additions to Freeman’s staff, wide receivers coach Mike Brown and offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock.
“I want to be able to meet them, be able to build better relationships with them,” says McCutcheon.
His offer sheet also includes schools like Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Miami, Penn State and Oregon among several others, but the Irish clearly have his attention.
“Notre Dame is a very special place,” he says. “It's a program that can offer me great academics and a chance to be able to win a national championship. I know if I go to Notre Dame that I'll have a chance to do both.”
McCutcheon doesn’t have any other visits locked in at the moment, but said he “definitely” expects to get to Texas, Florida State, Ohio State and USC between now and the end of spring practice.
He’s hoping to make a commitment prior to the start of his senior season.
“I want to try to make a final decision in the summer.”
