Portal Scouting Notes | WR/KR Jayden Harrison
An elite kick returner might not seem like the greatest need for this Notre Dame football team, but who would pass up the chance to add one like Jayden Harrison?
An All-American at the position, Harrison originally signed with Vanderbilt before transferring to Marshall after the 2020 season. He emerged as a starter at receiver in 2023, but has been the primary kick returner for the Thundering Herd the last three seasons.
WR/KR Jayden Harrison

- 2nd in the country in KR average, 30.7 per return
- two return TDs in 2023, another one in 2021 as well

- primarily lined up out wide the last 2 seasons, was a slot in 2021

- fastest player on Marshall’s team
- 37.4 inch vertical in high school
- max speed of 20.7mph on KR TD vs James Madison
- wasn’t utilized on deep targets often
- heavy usage in screen game in ‘21 and ‘22
- not elite twitch, but fantastic build up speed
- lacks polish and consistency as a receiver
I don’t see Harrison establishing himself as a big part of the offense as a receiver, though he could provide a spark after the catch.
I could see them taking the occasional vertical shot down the field with him because of his speed, but I think that speed will be showcased primarily as a returner. He can be a difference-maker doing that and for that reason alone, he’d be a terrific addition to Notre Dame’s roster.
