Making Moves | Notre Dame on the Recruiting Trail 1.26
Indiana will be the focus for Notre Dame’s recruiting staff on Friday as the Irish put a stamp on another aggressive week on the recruiting trail.
All stops should be considered tentative as winter weather hits different areas of the country.
Head coach Marcus Freeman, cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens and defensive line coach Al Washington will head to Indianapolis for two key stops on Friday. The first will be to Warren Central to see 2025 defensive end Damien Shanklin, who had Al Washington drop by last week. Shanklin was in South Bend last weekend for Junior Day, so within the last week, Notre Dame will have seen the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder three times, which is extremely telling.
The Warren Central star did take a mid-week visit to Purdue, but Notre Dame continues to look like the favorite here.
Freeman, Mickens and Washington will end the night watching 2025 Ben Davis cornerback Mark Zackery IV play some hoops. Like Shanklin, Zackery was seen last week by the staff and then visited for Junior Day.
Notre Dame has done well keeping the top players in Indiana home and they are doing a great job making both 2025 prospects priorities.
Washington will also be in Chicagoland to see three his three 2025 commits in defensive end Chris Burgess, defensive end Joseph Reiff and defensive end/linebacker Dom Hulak. Chicagoland was Washington’s final stop last week and all three were in town for Junior Day last weekend.
The rest of the Notre Dame staff will have a much-needed day off the recruiting trail.
