2025 WR Vernon Allen III Talks Notre Dame Offer
Vernon Allen III’s list of scholarship offers continues to grow and the 2025 Maryland receiver added another last Friday, when Notre Dame receivers coach Mike Brown called to extend an offer on behalf of the Irish.
“Basically, he said he loved my game and he wanted to offer me a scholarship to Notre Dame,” the Baltimore City College High School standout recalls.
Earlier this week, Allen added Wisconsin to a list that also includes schools like Maryland, North Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Michigan and Florida among others.
The offer from the Irish had Allen fired up.
“I loved it,” he says. “Happy as usual, excited, prepared for whatever was coming in the future for Notre Dame. I've definitely got to keep track.
“What I know about Notre Dame is they don't go too much in the portal, so they like development. I can tell that it's really a developmental school, and they develop receivers, so I could see myself in that offense.”
His initial impressions of Brown were positive.
“Coach Brown is a cool guy, really down to earth and a great coach,” says Allen. “I can tell that he's a great coach. He really cares for his players and really wants to develop them for The League.”
Allen says he’ll visit South Bend “for sure.”
“I'm going to try to get down this spring and for an official visit sometime in June,” he says, adding he’s looking forward to seeing campus and classrooms.
He has a few other visits in mind as well.
“I'm going to try to get down to Syracuse, Michigan, Notre Dame, Indiana,” he says.
Allen has a general idea of what he’s looking for in a college.
“Really just seeing development and the coaches and the program. I want to know it's a good culture and somewhere that I can really see myself playing at.”
