2025 WR Shaun Terry II Talks Notre Dame Commitment

It’s obvious coaching Shaun Terry II‍ was a priority for Mike Brown.

When Brown was still coaching at Wisconsin, Terry was a top target of his. And when Brown took the job as receivers coach at Notre Dame, the 2025 Ohio receiver quickly landed on the Irish recruiting board and picked up a scholarship offer during a Junior Day in South Bend last month.

Today, the Ironton High School standout announced his commitment to Notre Dame, choosing the Irish over offers from schools like Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Oregon, USC, Tennessee and Kentucky among many others.

“It is just unlike any other coaching staff,” Terry told Irish Sports Daily prior to his announcement. “They're the ones that have the most faith in me as me. Me and Coach Brown's relationship has really grown over the past year. I really trust him in everything he says to me.

“Coach Brown is a young receivers coach, so he can relate to the players more than other coaches can. And the thing about Coach Brown is that he doesn't see all the big numbers and players, he sees the true talent and the skill and the mentality of the player he wants. He's a great coach and a great person.”

But Brown isn’t the only reason he picked Notre Dame.

“There's just something about Notre Dame, the culture and the meaning behind Notre Dame is very special,” he said. “I really want to help bring a national championship back and help everyone see Notre Dame as national champions again.”

Head coach Marcus Freeman also had a big impact.

“Coach Freeman being from Ohio, he really relates to me,” said Terry. “He knows a little bit about Ironton. He was at Ohio State with a couple of players who went to Ironton. Him also being one of the only black coaches in college football, he can really relate to us minorities. He's a great coach and he just needs that talent to really get over that hump.”

The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder is confident in what he’ll be able to bring to the field in South Bend.

“I feel like I can bring the excitement that all Notre Dame fans want; the big plays, the cool juke moves and also still be blue collar,” he said. “I will still run the ball down your throat. I really believe I can bring that playmaking ability to Notre Dame that all the fans want.”

And, he’s excited to have the process behind him.

“It's really a true blessing behind all the coaches who believed in me. Now that I can finally just focus on Notre Dame and winning a state championship for my high school.”
