Matt Ryan Granted Release from Notre Dame
Sophomore forward Matt Ryan has been granted a release for other programs to contact him from Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey.
The 6-foot-7, 228-pounder averaged 3.6 points per game in 2016-17 for the Irish, who made fell to West Virginia 83-71 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Ryan, known for his sharpshooting, scored in double-figures just three times in his final season in South Bend, while averaging 7.9 minutes per game. As a freshman, Ryan averaged 14.5 minutes a contest.
“We wish Matt nothing but the best in his career moving forward,” Brey said in a statement. “He was a part of two great teams at Notre Dame, and we fully support his decision to pursue his career in a different program.”
Any program that wishes to contact or speak with Ryan will receive a release from Notre Dame's Compliance Office, however, per ACC regulations, Ryan cannot transfer to another ACC school.
