2026 DL Jamarcus Whyce Impressed With Notre Dame Visit
After receiving an offer from Notre Dame as part of the Irish’s Pot of Gold push on St. Patrick’s Day, Jamarcus Whyce made his way over to South Bend for a visit this weekend.
“It went real well,” the 2026 Ohio defensive line prospect told Irish Sports Daily. “I loved it. The way everything was set up, it was so organized and the coaches.”
The Trotwood-Madison standout was able to see Notre Dame and get a peek inside the program.
“We did a campus tour, so we got to see the field, the whole facility,” he said, “ I liked it. It was very spacious. I liked it a lot.
“We went to a few team meetings. They talked to us individually. The d-line coach talked to me and the head coach and defensive coordinator, they all talked to me.”
Whyce was impressed with the meetings.
“They were good,” he said. “I like the defensive scheme they run. I like that a lot.”
He also appreciated the honesty he received from defensive line coach Al Washington.
“Some schools just tell you, 'Oh, you're going to get this, you’re going to get that,’” Whyce said. “He was being real with me, telling me what it's going to be.”
The 6-foot-4, 275-pounder was also grateful for the chance to speak with head coach Marcus Freeman.
“It was kind of the same thing, but he used to live 20 minutes away from me, so we were just talking about how it is in the city now,” he said.
“I feel like they're real good people and they're honest.”
Whyce’s offer sheet also includes West Virginia, Toledo, Kent State, Miami-Ohio and UMass.
He has a couple other visits on the docket.
“ I should be going to Ohio State next week and then I go to Tennessee on the 12th,” he said.
And he plans to return to South Bend again.
“I'm going to go back up there a few more times,” he said. “Right now, I love it at Notre Dame.
“I think I'm going to go up there for camp and I think I'm going to go up there for the spring game.”
