2026 TE Sam Hamilton Talks "Amazing" Notre Dame Trip
Sam Hamilton had been looking forward to his return trip to Notre Dame for a while and Monday’s visit did not disappoint.
“It went amazing,” the 2026 Ohio tight end told Irish Sports Daily. “It was all around great. There's nothing I could ever say that was bad about that visit.”
The Archbishop Moeller standout, who has offers from Kentucky and Toledo, camped in South Bend last summer and got to see even more on Monday.
Getting to meet offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Mike Denbrock and head coach Marcus Freeman were among the highlights.
“I really got to see everything,” he said. “When we got there, we went to a team meeting, then we went into a positional meeting, which was really helpful for me to see who Coach Denbrock is as a coach and a person. He's a really great coach. He'll tell you what you're doing wrong, but he'll also be really, really motivational to you.”
Hamilton also enjoyed watching the Irish practice.
“Practice was really efficient,” the 6-foot-3, 235-pounder said. “Practice was only like an hour and a half to two hours. I got to watch their positionals, their team and individual drills. I got to talk to Coach Freeman a little bit; seeing how Coach Denbrock and Coach Freeman coach their team, which was really good.”
Freeman stopped at Moeller earlier in the year and encouraged Hamilton to come out for another visit.
“He said he was really glad I was there,” said Hamilton. “He wanted me to come up and watch a practice and get around the team, get around the campus. He wants to see me in camp this summer.
“I'm going to the Irish Invasion Camp that's invite-only. Then, I'm going to go to a camp in the summer also. Notre Dame is very high up on my list of schools that I'll be looking at and the future.”
Hamilton also had the chance to tour campus.
“We got to see the Grotto, the chapel, the weight room, got to walk on the field, got to go look in the game day locker room,” he said. “It was really all around great.
“It was really more in-depth this time. Getting to see the specifics are with all the coaches and the whole program itself. Getting to come to this unofficial visit early in my recruiting process was really great. They made a really great impression on me.”
Hamilton will visit Ohio State on Tuesday.
