2025 Geneva Community (Ill.) receiver Talyn Taylor‍ and his mother, Venus, made their way back to South Bend this weekend for a key visit.

Notre Dame’s staff left no stone unturned during the visit and made sure the Taylor family got all their questions answered about the program.

Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock led the charge, making sure to spend some quality time with the four-star prospect.

“The biggest thing is the people at Notre Dame represent the Golden Standard and that’s what has continuously brought us back along with Coach Freeman’s leadership and the feeling we’ve got from him and his staff,” Ms. Taylor stated. “I will say probably one of the most exciting meetings for Talyn would be meeting with Coach Denbrock and feeling the love from him.

“He saw the ways he would use him and Coach Denbrock really broke that down. He had video comparisons of Talyn in high school and schemes he’s done. We feel there are a lot of ways to use Talyn with his versatility and speed, and they really find that valuable.”

Taylor not only got a good feel on film for how Denbrock would use him, but watching Saturday’s practice opened his eyes to how he could be featured at Notre Dame.

“Coach Denbrock and everyone on that staff think I’m a playmaker,” said Taylor. “They want that to be part of their team. They see me in all parts of the offense at the receiver position.”

Receivers coach Mike Brown has recruited Taylor at three different schools and the two have a strong relationship and rapport. Taylor was able to get a closer look at how Brown runs his meetings, but also his coaching style and Notre Dame’s competitive practice seemed to leave a lasting impression.

“I think Coach Brown’s coaching style is great,” explained Taylor. He does a great job with what he’s doing. He helps break down defenses well and breaks down footwork and all that stuff. They were definitely competitive during practice. I definitely saw the receivers and defensive backs getting after it. They are up-tempo, and it was definitely a fast practice.”

The Taylor family had experienced the academic side of Notre Dame on past visits, but key points were once again emphasized.

And as a college head coach and parent, Ms. Taylor appreciated the message of choosing hard.

“It’s a prestigious university,” stated Ms. Taylor. “They are always going to provide support, but it’s the in-person learning and really making sure the guys are present and fully engaged. They acknowledge hard means growth. You know they’re going to get challenged, but it will be worth it because it sets you up in the end to be in a position to be successful when football is over.”

Taylor will now look to narrow his recruitment down to official visits, and those dates will likely be announced sooner rather than later.

“I feel like it went great,” Ms. Taylor said. “It’s that last visit we’ll take before Talyn decides on his official visits. We’re getting ready to assess that and nail down those dates.”
